India – Delta bevestigt casinolicentie voor Denzong Regency Hotel

Delta Corp, India’s largest publicly traded gaming company, has now confirmed that it will be operating Sikkim’s third land-based casino having signed a license agreement to operate a casino within the Denzong Regency Hotel, in Gangtok, Sikkim.
Reports that the Denzong Regency had been given a license began to circulate in April but have now been confirmed by Delta.
Delta Managing Director Ashish Kapadia said: “Delta Corp Limited would like to inform that it has signed a leave and license agreement for premises in in the Denzong Regency Hotel, Gantok, Sikkim, to operate a casino. Delta has obtained a provisional licence from the Government of Sikkim under the Sikkim Casino Act 2002. We are in the process of refurbishing and getting the premises casino ready which should be completed in the next three months. Delta, in pursuing its strategy of expanding its gaming imprint will now have a presence in Sikkim, operating a live gaming casino offering approximately 150 gaming positions, thereby catering to the eastern market. Delta will this, in addition to three offshore and one onshore casino in Goa, will strengthen its presence by adding this Casino in Sikkim, making it a dominant and formidable player in the Indian gaming and entertainment space.”
Er zijn al twee casino's actief in Sikkim, waarbij Casino Mahjong actief is in het Mayfair-resort en Casino Sikkim geopend in Hotel Royal Plaza. Analisten zijn van mening dat een casino in Hotel Denzong Regency zou profiteren van een handiger en strategischere locatie omdat het dichter bij de stad Gangtok ligt.
The hotel is the only 5 Star Luxury Mountain Retreat in Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, at a height of 6,000 feet with the towering Mt. Kanchenjunga peak in the background.
Sikkim is a small state in northwest of the country, bordered by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal. It has also opened up betting shops across the state. It is one of three states, along with Goa and Daman, that is allowed to offer casinos.
