Japan – Noord-Amerika en Australië herwinnen 'pre-COVID-19-energie' voor Konami nu het aantal games toeneemt

By - 15 Mei 2023

Konami’s Gaming & Systems business saw a 50.5 per cent year-on-year increase in first quarter revenues to KRW38.6bn (US$287m), with the North American and Australian markets having ‘regained their pre- COVID-19 energy.’

Sales in Australia and North America were bouyed by strong sales of its Dimension series of cabinets supported by games such as All Aboard, Fortune Mint and Ocean Spin, and from growth in cashless gaming. Konami said that other markets were also moving toward recovery.

“Despite the impact of soaring component costs caused by global supply chain disruptions, profitability has recovered due to various cost reduction initiatives,” it explained.

Konami reported an 8.4 per cent year-on-year increase in revenues from its Sports segment, comprising various health and sporting facilities across Japan, to JPY45.5bn (US$338m), while both the Digital Entertainment and Amusements segments remained flat at JPY213.4bn (US$1.59bn) and JPY19.5bn (US$145m) respectively.

Overall the Japanese gaming giant saw a 4.9 per cent increase in consolidated revenues to JPY314.3bn (US$2.34bn) for the first quarter.
