UK ā€“ Mobile betting bites back during World Cup

By - 26 juni 2014

Consumers are ditching their desktops and turning to their tablets and mobiles when betting online during the World Cup, according to new research from payment management firm Secure Trading.

The firm questioned UK consumers during Englandā€™s goalless draw with Costa Rica last night, and found that of those who had placed an online bet, 70 per cent did so on a mobile device.

Jens Bader, Commercial Director at Secure Trading said: ā€œWeā€™ve seen a huge surge in mobile gaming during the World Cup. Heavy advertising campaigns coupled with the rise of ā€˜second screeningā€™ has led to a massive boost for operators. These major events offer a significant mobile opportunity for operators, but they must be equipped for the scenario. Keeping users engaged while making the player journey a smooth one is paramount.

ā€œFor example, a quick and easy player identification solution and a simple sign up process for first-time customers are essential,ā€ he added. ā€œOn top of that, invest in a robust and efficient payment area in order to process large surges of transactions efficiently, as well as having the responsiveness to deal with peaks in demand during important matches.ā€
